Classic, sweet and subtly stunning—Gigi Hadid and beloved hairstylist Laura Polko (@laurapolko) create a Marilyn Monroe-inspired look for the 2024 Met Gala. Below, learn how Laura created Gigi’s look with a prep, styling and face-framing crash course and step-by-step process to recreate in your own chair.

Gigi wears custom Thom Browne for fashion’s biggest night out, “The corset dress was embroidered with over two million white micro bugle beads for the 2024 Met Gala,” says @thombrowne via Instagram.

HOW-TO STEPS

1

To prep Gigi’s hair, Laura applied Joico JoiWhip Foam and Body Shake to create texture and lift at the root.

2

Blow-dry the entire head and create a deep side part to the left.

3

On the left side of the part, pin hot rollers down and away from the face. On the right side, pin hot rollers on the base to build volume, set all of the rollers using Power Spray.

4

Once cooled, release the rollers and finish the length of the hair with a one-inch curling iron where necessary.

5

To nail the face-frame, Laura says to pin curl the hairline to create an S-wave. The left side of the hair should be curled towards the face while the right side is curled away from the face.

6

For the front and top sections, pin curl these sections forward for the maximum amount of volume. Spray the head with Flip Turn and let cool.

7

Remove the pin curls, brush through the set style using your hands and lacquer in place using Flip Turn once more.
