HOW-TO STEPS

1

Start with a healthy base, using shampoo and conditioner of choice to prep the hair for heat styling and a tight updo.

2

After towel drying the hair, blow-dry the hair using a large round brush to achieve a shiny, smooth texture.

3

Next, add a subtle wave to the hair to begin building texture. Taking large sections of hair, gently bend the hair over a medium-sized curling iron.

4

Peter says, “I then gathered the hair into two ponytails at the back of the head just above the roundest part. Splitting each ponytail into two sections, I rope twisted them together and secured the ends with a small clear elastic.”

5

Then, he wrapped each twist around its own ponytail base, always considering a balanced shape that will be seen from all angles before securing with pins. “This left me with two intricately shaped buns that look coherent and create a flattering shape.”

6

Finally, Peter adds the silk flowers to decorate the hair to match the custom gown, being sure to alternate size and color and finishing with a soft wave through the front section with a large curling iron.
