How to Cut Sabrina Carpenter’s Curtain Bangs
Sabrina’s cheekbone-grazing bangs are a signature part of her look, and Laurie has a few must-dos to achieve their perfect contouring effect:
- Don’t over-blend your bangs with the sides: “When layering around her face, I don’t blend from the bangs to the longer layers,” Laurie explains. “Blending too much can result in a shaggy look. Instead, I like to leave the layer just after the bangs at about chin length.”
- Sabrina’s fringe is cut in a standard pie-shaped section, using the center part as a guide. The contouring bend in her bangs is defined by a round brush, Laurie shares.
Remember This: “Be careful when cutting bangs; it’s truly an art. Always start longer than you want, and I recommend cutting bangs dry,” Laurie advises.

Sabrina’s Blended, Golden Blonde: What You Need to Know
Golden, multi-tonal hues are among our most common client requests, but what are the details that make Sabrina’s perfectly balanced blonde so coveted? Read on to see what Laurie has to say…
Keys to Creating the “Natural Blonde” Look
“I prefer to keep the highlights balanced—not too thick and not too thin—for a natural, sophisticated look,” Laurie shares. “In her bangs and around her face, I add some extra highlights for a pop of brightness and definition. This technique enhances her features and adds a dynamic touch to her overall look.”

PSA: Sabrina’s Golden Blonde is Actually Toner-Free (Sometimes!)
Laurie relies on the lift to achieve the effortless blended blonde that Sabrina is so known for. Her go-to? “I use Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside, combined with 20- and 30-volume developer. I love this bleach because it lifts gradually, often eliminating the need for toning and resulting in a beautifully creamy color.”

Blonde Variations: When Laurie Reaches for Toner
When Laurie is looking to create a warmer, more dimensional blonde that enhances her natural depth, she will tone the roots with Redken Shades EQ 09N + 09GB and process for five minutes—like Sabrina’s look for her “Emails I Can’t Send” tour:

For the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, Laurie opted for a bright blonde by toning with Shades EQ 10WG + Clear on the mids to ends. Sabrina’s color was brought to life by celebrity stylist Jennifer Yepez (@jennifer_yepez) with her signature fluffy volume:

Dear Clients: How to Ask Your Stylist for Sabrina’s Cut & Color
Laurie’s biggest tip for helping your stylist understand your hair goals is to bring in a reference photo. “This helps ensure the stylist knows exactly what you want, making it easier to achieve the perfect look,” Laurie adds.

It’s also important to identify what you like most about the picture. For example: Although Sabrina usually wears her signature golden blonde, she ditched it for an icier hue at the 2024 Met Gala. Be sure you know which tone is your goal and bring the right picture to represent it.
