Sabrina Carpenter’s Icy Blonde Transformation For The 2024 Met Gala

“From golden blonde to icy blonde with Redken Shades EQ—This is MET,” says Sabrina Carpenter’s hair colorist Laurie Heaps (@_hairbylaurie)

Inspiration Behind The Golden Blonde

It’s simple. “Vibrant, luminous blonde,” is what Laurie describes as the inspo behind the starlet’s Met Gala debut.

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Formula A (Overall lift)

Redken Flash Lift Bonder Inside + 10 and 20-volume Pro Oxide Developer

  • Formula B (Zone 1)

Redken Shades EQ 010VV (1/2 oz.) + 010N (1/2 oz.) + Crystal Clear (1 oz.) + Shades EQ Processing Solution

  • Formula C (Zone 2 & 3)

Shades EQ 010P (1 oz.) + Crystal Clear (2 oz.) + Shades EQ Processing Solution

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A globally, using 20-volume developer on the roots and 10-volume throughout highlighted sections around the head. “Since her hair already had highlights, I revisited those sections with the 10-volume developer through the ends to safeguard Sabrina’s hair,” says Laurie.

2. Throughout this process, diligently check the foils, removing any sections once they have reached the desired lift.

3. The following day, Laurie went through Sabrina’s hair, meticulously re-foiling any sections (still with Formula A) that had traces of gold from her previous color.

4. For toning, Laurie applied Formula B at the roots and let process for five minutes.

5. Through the ends, apply Formula C and let process for five minutes. “Redken Shades EQ is remarkable for bright blondes as it does not dull the color, which ensures vibrant and luminous results,” Laurie adds.
