1. Adding Dimension To Solid Brunette Hair

Struggling to create that POP when styling solid brunettes and dark hair? We love this trick from Zukhra Sullieva (@zuhra_sullieva). After building a voluminous base, Zukhra carefully pieces out the top by pulling ultra-fine pieces to pop on the surface and locks in with Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray, working piece-by-piece.

Watch the full technique in the tutorial below.

2. Keep The Surface As Smooth As Possible

For the perfect smooth ponytail, knot or bun, Irina Pasechnik (@i_pasechnik) applies Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray directly on a natural bristle brush AND the hair itself. She gently works against the surface to polish out any imperfections to get rid of any unwanted fluff.

Bundle Knot Pro Tip:

For a sleek knot bun on long-haired clients, Irina smooths out the length of the ponytail with the same bristle brush and hairspray method. Then, she ties the hair into a bundle knot, pulling it through and securing underneath with a pin.

3. Pre-Plan Before Curling To Prevent Problem Areas

Do you pre-curl everything before styling updos? In some cases, this will cause you to work against yourself later in the styling process. By pre-curling the hair, you have already told the hair which direction it will go. For example, if the hair is curled in one direction and ends up being pinned in the opposite direction. Totally frustrating, right?

Instead, Cat Hughes (@cathughesxo) pre-plans how to curl the hair, or works on straight hair, to prevent creating any obstacles.

Watch the video to see Cat create texture and movement on straight hair.

4. Eliminate A Harsh Part With This Trick

Here’s a common bridal request: a deep side part with one side braided and tucked behind the ear. To soften the parting, we love this trick from Zukhra—create a super fine zigzag parting to eliminate a harsh part line. Then, apply Moroccanoil® Molding Cream to weave the braid around the ear. The cream uses thickening bamboo fibers for strength and elasticity for flexible braiding without an unwanted oily sheen.

Pro Tip For Building Volume:

Before braiding, Zukhra starts by doing a full-head pin curl set. This creates the voluminous foundation. After the braid, she continues to build volume with backcombing to create contrast, with a romantic swoop on one side and a braided, tucked accent on the opposite.

Watch the tutorial below to see how it’s done.

5. Save Time With Knots

Why does the perfect undone bun often take multiples tries and a lot of effort? Instead, Cat saves time by knotting the hair. It a major timesaver, eliminates applying countless pins and makes it easy for a few loose waves to hang for a romantic vibe.
