1. Start Early—Don’t Wait Until December!
Be strategic and develop a holiday biz timeline. To help, we’ve rounded up some data from a study that Phorest Salon Software did with their network of over 6,000 hair, spa, beauty and aesthetic salons. Here’s what you need to know about scheduling:
- October: On average, Thursday, October 17 is when Americans start thinking about their holiday hair and beauty appointments, aka “the holiday rush.”
- November: By the first week of November, salon appointment bookings have already doubled the average number of weekly bookings taken—jumping from 6.96 to 13.8 appointments made for the Christmas season.
- Thanksgiving Week: Once the end of November hits, after a dip around Thanksgiving, that number has tripled.
- December: By December 22, weekly bookings drop off dramatically as salon books fill up for the festive season, from Christmas right through to New Year.

2. The Holiday Rush: Schedule Text, & Social Alerts
You have a holiday timeline, now what? Think about how you can get ahead and secure those books. “You should be sending out your Christmas marketing and promoting your open bookings before December hits,” shares Phorest CEO Ronan Perceval. “When the number of bookings made at US salons shoot up to 15 times the average rate!”
This is the perfect time to get those Insta stories and posts up promoting holiday services, specials, retail bundles and availability (!!!). Also, sending those friendly text reminders to clients encouraging them to start booking before it’s too late.

3. Retail Idea: Create Holiday Gift Packages
’Tis the season to get creative AF with retail—THIS is when your clients, especially those last-minute shoppers, are willing to spend a little extra for secret santa gifts and stocking stuffers. Turn this into an oppurtunity by creating holiday bundles, for example: travel (stocking) size product trios, gift-wrapped sets and festive gift cards.

The best way to spread holiday cheer? Getting together with your neighbors to offer some creative holiday packages that will get clients totally ready for their holiday parties—like the ultimate blowout, manicure and spray tan trifecta that will have them lookin’ 🔥 for cuffing season.
5. Set Up A Photo Booth Area In The Salon
You just ROCKED some holiday glam on your client, so don’t let them leave without taking a photo you can post … do it for the gram! Here’s an idea: set up a photo station and encourage clients to take selfies, so they can tag you and the salon! Bonus, this will help you head into the New Year with some potential new referrals.
