Sport Clips Haircuts is celebrating the opening of its 1,599th and 1,600th stores within minutes of each other on the east coast, making it a tie for one of the franchise’s milestone “100th location” openings. Business partners Andy Morrison and Tripp Melton opened their second Sport Clips franchise in Charlotte, N.C., while Sam and Jill Jolley opened the second of their two locations in Harbor Plaza, Fla. The 1,600th store opening comes in the same year Sport Clips’ 1,500th location opened, marking another strong year for Sport Clips store openings.

“The growth momentum we have as a franchise, as the haircare provider of choice for men and boys and as the local employer for thousands of stylists is so gratifying for our entire support team. We started this concept more than 20 years ago and have been able to build an extraordinary team of professionals who are dedicated to serving our clients, franchisees and team members,” says Sport Clips Founder and CEO Gordon Logan. “Sport Clips continues our dedication to, ‘Do your best, do what’s right and treat others the way they want to be treated,’ and it’s paying off with the growth you see in our franchise today.”

“We may be best known for hair care in a sports-themed setting, but we’re also intentional about giving back locally and nationally through our Haircuts with Heart programs,” he says. “It’s a great way to say ‘thank you’ for helping us grow and serve during this time of Thanksgiving and throughout the year.”

Sport Clips has 1,569 locations in the U.S. and 31 in Canada. It took five years to open the first 50 stores, and by 2007, Sport Clips celebrated the opening of its 400th and 500th store in the same year. The franchise expects to have 1,625 locations open by the end of the year.
