Alessandra Ambrosio’s Modern Shag from Garren’s Louis Angelo

Even the gorgeous Victoria Secret Angels get that blah feeling about their hair every now and again. So when supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio was tired of her old look, she turned to hair stylist Louis Angelo, who works out of Garren in NYC, to shake things up.  The result—a rock star shag with a killer fringe that’s  perfect for Alessandra’s busy schedule as a Victoria’s Secret Angel and mother. This style requires minimal work and delivers maximum style. Here’s the how-to from Angelo.

HOW-TO STEPS

    1

“The look I designed for Alessandra works well on most hair types, but its best suited for either slightly wavy hair or straight hair,” says Angelo. If your client has curly hair, keep the layers long to avoid a too-short look once the hair dries and the curls shrink.

The cut itself is two-fold: The exterior line establishes length (the longer the better), while the interior of the cut is layered from the crown all the way down to the established length. Remember, the shaggier, the better.

To create the fringe, choose a length that is best suited for your client’s face type, whether it’s bluntly cut across the forehead or slightly longer and side swept. Just make sure the fringe hits below the eyebrow.

Achieve thick voluminous hair (think width, not height) out of the cut by distributing a small, golf ball size of Kerastase Nutri Sculpt Mousse throughout the hair.

Next spritz René Furterer vegetal styling spritz only at the roots to give the hair texture.

Shake dry using your fingers and a blow dryer, until hair is 75-percent dry.

Using a large round brush, smooth out the ends and continue to blow-dry until hair is completely dry.

Finish the look with a spritz of soft hold hairspray.
