Cut & Style Breakdown: Sofia Vergara’s Griselda Premiere Look

You know her from Modern Family, America’s Got Talent and (soon) the new Netflix series “Griselda”Sofia Vergara has been impressing us with her red carpet looks for years. The superstar has just entered a partnership with Schwarzkopf Professional®—and what better way to reinforce the Global Ambassador’s debut than with the help of Schwarzkopf Professional Global Ambassador Tyler Johnston (@tylerjohnstonhair)?

Sofia plays the star in the upcoming series, Griselda, so we’re unsurprised to see her turn heads for the red carpet premiere. The actress sported a sleek look, inspired by ’80s glam, on which Tyler commented: “By dropping the hair back over one side of the shoulder and giving lift to the crown area, it gave an ’80s-feel to the hair which mirrored the incredible ’80s-inspired outfit that Sofia was wearing.” Get the step-by-step for Sofia’s cut and style below!

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Tyler starts the haircut by lifting the outline length to drop just past the shoulders. “I point cut the outline to create softness,” he adds.

2

Then, he cuts very long layers into the internal shape, using the point of his shears to further soften the silhouette.

3

He follows this by shaping the outline through the front to create face framing. “This is key to the overall shape and look. It gives modernity and personalizes the finished look,” Tyler explains.

4

For the blow-dry, he applies Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+® Grip Mousse and dries the hair.

5

Then, Tyler uses a large-barrel tong and creates texture around the midlength sections, leaving the ends out. “This gives a more modern feel,” Tyler explains.

6

After leaving the sections to cool down, Tyler uses a bristle brush and works the hair into a modern contoured wave.

7

On top of the crown, slightly lift the roots. “[This will] give a classic retro feel but still keep it modern,” Tyler explains. “I worked with Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+® Dust It around this area to give more support and hold.”

Tyler finishes by adding a fine mist of Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+® Freeze medium-hold hairspray to hold the shape and give a sheen-like finish.
