1. During a prior appointment, remove any previous color and/or buildup using the Fanola Hair Color Removing Kit.
2. At the color appointment, start by applying Formula A onto the sides, ensuring you get every little strand of hair, advises Mindy. Use perm papers to cover the sides.
3. Then, apply Formula B quickly on the ends so it lightens faster than the roots. “Make sure to keep the formula a few centimeters away from the scalp to avoid hot roots,” says Mindy.
4. Using Formula A again, go through each section and apply it on the scalp.
5. When cross-checking the top, create four clean quadrants for neat application. Use perm papers between each section to keep the two formulas separate.
6. Apply Formula A onto the sides once again as it tends to get dry (you want to keep it saturated!) and cover with perm paper.
7. Once you’re done applying the formulas, use Saran Wrap to help with insulation. Process for about 30 minutes.
8. After 30 minutes, check to see if you need to reapply the bleach again. If not, check every 10 to 15 minutes until it is Level 9. If it is weak, rinse and adjust the formula according to the level.
9. Once he reaches Level 9, rinse and shampoo with Fanola Fiber Fix n3 Finalizing Fiber Shampoo (It has a lower pH level). Then, use Fanola No Yellow Shampoo and rinse. Apply Olaplex No.2 and process for about 15 minutes.
10. Next, apply Formula C on the sides first. After, quickly go through the ends with Formula C and then apply it on the scalp.
11. Proceed to cross-check and make sure everything is saturated. Let the toner process for about 15 minutes.
12. Rinse out the color and apply Formula D. Leave on for roughly 5 minutes, then rinse and towel-dry.
13. Use a quarter-sized amount of Neuma Smoothing Creme + 2 pumps of Neuma Argan Oil and towel-dry once again! To style, Mindy says you can use any wax or pomade.
