To take her client from a drab blonde to a stunning shimmering lilac, stylist Jenilene Sunderland from Royal Avenue Barbershop in Eugene, Oregon reached for her b3 Brazilian Bond Builder to ensure the integrity of her client’s hair stayed in-tact and PRAVANA VIVIDS color. b3 is a one-step professional tool that’s mixed into all formulations to reduce damage caused during the coloring process. Utilizing a specially engineered co-polymer, b3 reattaches and builds the bonds that make up the cellular membrane complex, helping to prevent the loss of cuticle and cortex cells that are responsible for supporting the inner structure of the hair. For this particular color, Jeni charged $160. “My prices are based off of the length and thickness of the client’s hair, the amount of product needed to achieve the desired look and the amount of time it takes to achieve the look,” Jeni explains.

FORMULA STEPS
1. Part the hair into a T-parting. Prelighten the regrowth with Formula A and process for 45 minutes.
2. Jeni only needed to lift her client’s existing blonde slightly because she cut as much yellow as possible off. Then she applied Formula B to the midlengths and ends and processed for about 15 to 20 minutes.
3. Rinse out the lightener and tone with Formula C at the shampoo bowl for 10 minutes. Shampoo and condition the hair.
4. Dry the hair completely, then part the hair into a T-parting.
5. Starting at the back right quadrant, apply Formula D at the roots, blending it into Formula E from midlengths to ends. Continue through the rest of the quadrants.
6. Process for 25 minutes without heat.
7. Wash, dry and style the hair as desired.
