We can’t get over this amazing transformation from BTC Team Member Gina Bianca (@iamginabianca)! But taking her client from random spots of brass to golden brunette dimension wasn’t easy since her client’s hair was super porous and visibly damaged. So how did Gina pull off this color correction? With six formulas, three treatments and lots of patience! Watch the full how-to below, then keep scrolling for the detailed step-by-step breakdown.

FORMULA STEPS
1. Start by applying Malibu CCrystal Gel Wellness Hair Remedy and leave on for 45 minutes under the dryer. “This was a necessary step because I wanted a clean canvas to work on and she had just gotten her hair done,” shares Gina.
2. Rinse and blow-dry, then apply Formula A by following Gina’s signature sombrè placement. It consists of a super tight face-frame, full hair-painting on the back and sides and then a very tiny micro foil through the top Mohawk section with a special focus on detail blending the harsh lines.
Note: For areas with less damage, paint thicker slices to add a little pop of brightness.
3. Then, apply Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment. “Before I do any other step, I wanted to even out the porosity and deposit protein and moisture back into the hair,” says Gina.
4. Rinse, then blow-dry. At this point, her client’s hair was better but there were still some harsh lines and warmth to get rid of. So Bianca did her signature “Melting Into Fall” technique, which consists of triangle sections and a root melt. Start by applying Formula B, then take smaller triangle sections and alternate applying Formulas C, D and E, fully saturating each panel.
For the extremely porous areas, Bianca applied the lightest gloss first and then the darker gloss to dilute it slightly. In other sections, she melted the dark gloss first into the lighter gloss into the lightest gloss. “This placement is helpful when you’re trying to hit every hair and build depth and dimension while still lightening,” she notes.
5. Let process for 25 minutes and rinse. Then, mix Formulas C, D and E together in one bowl and apply it throughout the hair to marry everything together. Process for 5 minutes.
6. Then, gloss with Formula F to seal everything in. Let process and rinse, then apply Uberliss Bond Amplifier as a moisturizing treatment.
7. Rinse and blow-dry, then create waves and finish the style with Virtue®Finale Shaping Spray and Virtue® Perfect Ending Split End Serum for a polished look.
