Nancy Braun is the owner of Balayage by Nancy Braun, a Beverly Hills hair salon focused on superlative color and hair care that opened in December 2012. As a color specialist in Balayage and all hair color, Braun has a simple hair color philosophy: less is more. Her branding of the Balayage technique (highlighting that duplicates what nature gave us as children) has been honed to the level of an art form and her approach has made her one of the most sought after colorists in the industry.
In addition, Nancy has worked to bring clients the best in home hair care through the development of her own Balayage “B-Line” products which help maintain the color and texture of hair between salon visits. These products have become a staple for women throughout the U.S. with Braun consistently working to provide the most innovative and cutting edge technology for all types of hair.
Splitting her time between Los Angeles and New York City, Nancy has built a tremendous cadre of celebrity and fashion clientele that include Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener, Ricki Lake, Eva Longoria, Gretchen Mol, Yvonne Stahovski, Ben Stiller, Sela Ward and Sigourney Weaver amongst others.
Her work has been previewed in features such as “Tropic Thunder” (where she transformed Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black and Nick Nolte into blonde bombers,) “Legally Blonde,” “Julie and Julia,” “Chuck and Larry,” “It’s Complicated,” “RENT,” “Coyote Ugly,” and “Scream 4.” She is currently working on the upcoming Superman feature (set for release in 2015) and has also appeared as a color expert for “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
The combinations of Nancy’s color expertise, Balayage artistry and outstanding teaching skills have made Braun an icon in her field. As Director of Technical Services at L’Oreal USA Corporate, Braun helped launch INOA, DiaColor, and other well-known L’Oreal Professional brands. She also innovated and developed the Balayage Education standard for L’Oreal Professional, helping make beautiful hair just a little more beautiful.
Balayage by Nancy Braun is situated at 9278 Civic Center Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. The new salon is housed in a building designed by the famed African American architect Paul Williams. A legendary designer, Williams practiced largely in Southern California creating homes for Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, as well as redesigning and adding rooms for the Beverly Hills Hotel, designing the Arrowhead Springs Hotel & Spa, The Los Angeles County Courthouse, Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills along with a long list of other iconic buildings.
