How To Use Add-On Treatments For Every Service

Watch: How To Add A Treatment To Every Service

Add-on services and upcharging are smart ways to maximize your time behind the chair and increase your income, so we’re showing you how to use Olaplex on literally every client (even the ones who DON’T want haircolor). Brittany Banda (@texasbalayage) talked us through all the ways she puts Olaplex to work in her salon—and you can totally copy these ideas!

Toner Refresh Clients: Add Olaplex No.1

How to raise your guests’ frequency of visits? Book them for toner refresh services. How to up their ticket during toner refresh services? Add Olaplex No.1 Bond Multiplier to the service. Their hair not only LOOKS refreshed—it also FEELS refreshed.

Pro Tip: Brittany always applies the toner treatment from root to ends. Why? “Even if there is no brightness or highlights, the toner still has Olaplex, so the hair still benefits from the treatment.”

Use Olaplex No.2 As A Cutting Lotion

Just because a client doesn’t want chemical services doesn’t mean they can’t benefit from Olaplex. Increase your ticket while introducing them to Olaplex by offering an Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector upgrade and use it as a cutting lotion during their appointment. It requires no additional time!

Offer Extra Repair While Processing

Does your regular gray coverage client just want to get in and out? Sometimes these types of appointments can fall into a rut of the same thing every time. At the next appointment, explain that you have a way to give her an extra dose of hair love with an Olaplex No.2 treatment that WON’T increase her appointment time. Just apply it with a bowl and brush from the root touch-up application to her ends while she’s processing!

Use This Product Combo To Prep For Styling

Brittany loves mixing Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother with the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil. Why? Pairing these two products together creates extra strength protection for styling. “No. 7 has a UV heat protectant so it is perfect for prepping for any blow-dry or heat styling.”

Finish Every Client With Olaplex No.6

“Every single client benefits from Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother, no question,” says Brittany. Plus, it opens the avenue to discuss why they need the product at home. Explain when you apply it that you never let a guest leave your chair without it, because it moisturizes and smooths split ends, protects against sun, wind and humidity and prevents the hair from feeling rough or dry.

Send Them Home With Olaplex No.4 + No.5

“As stylists it is our job to educate our clients on how to take care of their hair at home, and it’s their job to use the products we recommend,” Brittany explains.

  • The right shampoo and conditioner is imperative to healthy hair so Brittany recommends Olaplex No. 4 Shampoo and No. 5 Conditioner for a cleanse and condition.

Pro Tip: If clients are apprehensive about spending a lot of cash for at-home care, help them understand the value in the products. “I always explain that Olaplex products are so concentrated that they really are getting a bang for their buck,” Brittany explains. “They don’t need to use a lot of product to see the benefits.”
