Check out how Anna Cantu created this textured faux bob while in Las Vegas for Miss USA 2017!

The faux bob is a great style when your client wants to rock shorter locks without the long-term commitment of chopping it all off. Master this look with the help of Farouk Systems, Inc. Global Artist Anna Cantu. We broadcasted her LIVE on Facebook creating this textured illusion bob during Miss USA 2017 in Las Vegas. Check it out!

But first, some of Anna’s top tips when creating this style:

  • If she has fine hair, create volume and texture by going in close to the scalp with the CHI Onyx 1-inch Ceramic Crimping Iron and pressing the iron down just once.

  • At the parietal ridge, create a section from ear to ear and braid it out of the way so it hides under the rest of the hair. This creates the illusion of shorter length and doubles as your foundation if you need to pin later.

  • Hairspray vs. CHI Spray Wax: If you’re going for a smooth, polished look Anna recommends finishing the look with hairspray. If you are aiming for a more textured final look, Anna suggest spraying some Spray Wax to keep the hair in place.
