How to Offer the Hair Treatments Your Clients Actually Want

More often than not, your clientele will be familiar with OLAPLEX products or at least recognize the brand’s name as a salon luxury go-to. So…why aren’t we leveraging this?!

It’s easy (and efficient) to sell something you and your clients believe in. If you’re having a hard time getting a consistent “yes” for add-on treatments, stop beating around the bush. Speak to your clients by offering them products they know and want to be part of.

In this article you will learn:

  • The add-on services that your clients can understand and easily say “yes!” to
  • How to reframe the way you offer and think about asking for additional time and money from clients
  • Fast ways to incorporate an add-on service into your already-scheduled appointment time

#1. A Curly Hair Add-On That’s Not “Another Moisture Mask”

Curls need moisture, we get it—and so do your clients! Set your add-ons apart from everything clients are hearing on social media by offering more than a conditioner or leave-in treatment.

Curly hair specialist Monica Cher (@hairbymonicacher) talks about restoring her clients’ strands from the inside out using OLAPLEX No.1 The Bond Multiplier. “Environmental damage is a real thing, If your client sees a lot of sun or consistent UV rays, their hair is probably dry and not styling well,” she explains.

Here is Monica’s at-the-bowl treatment for her active client with dry hair:

  • Prior to shampooing, she applies OLAPLEX No. 1 Bond Multiplier and No. 2 Bond Perfector at the bowl. “Allow this to sit in a cap for just 15 minutes,” she adds.
  • Then to shampoo, Monica uses No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo because, “It suds up so well the first time you really don’t ever need to do a second shampoo,” Monica explains.

  • To end the treatment, she uses No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Option to leave this on a few additional minutes for extra moisture retention.

That’s it! A fast add-on for curly clients that won’t leave their head hanging in a shampoo bowl waiting for a treatment to soak through their curls. Watch Monica’s quick demo process below:

#2. Shampoo Treatments WITHOUT Color Deposit For Red-Haired Clients

If you don’t personally know the struggle of shampooing red hair at home, consider your stain-free shower lucky. We can promise you that your red-haired clients have enough depositing products and crave a simple (mess-free) color protection routine.

Balayage specialist Karla Leschitz (@kl.hairartist) shares her go-to shampoo and conditioning regime for red hair is OLAPLEX No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner.

Here’s how to reframe offering retail products as at-home treatments:

  • Reframe an add-on to a retail sale: “If you want to take the shampoo and conditioner I used on you home today, you won’t need to worry about extra color protection treatments.”
  • Mention the benefit of taking home product without the sales pitch: “I’ll see you back in six weeks for your color refresh. If you want to avoid another appointment before then, I can send you home with the OLAPLEX shampoo and conditioner I used today…”
  • Speak to what you KNOW they want: “The shampoo and conditioner I used today is a color care treatment without any red dyes if you want to take some home…”
  • Use simple hint drops throughout the appointment instead of in one breath at checkout: Karla says, “OLAPLEX No.4 and No.5 is color safe, helps add shine and manageability while reducing frizz. Plus, it smells amazing!”
