Mary’s Inspiration

BTC Founder Mary Rector-Gable set the tone for an inspirational day with her powerful message about the importance of working hard and always saying yes. “The people who are going to get the chances in life are the ones who just say yes,” shared Mary. “Yes, I’ll take the last client of the day. Yes, I’ll fold the towels. Yes, there is nothing too boring, too basic and too low for me.” She then shared how this “say yes to everything” mantra positively impacted her stylist, @danilo.bozic.

Styling: Accessories, Braids & Bridal Hair

BTC’s own @shmeggsandbaconn, BTC Team Member and Kenra Professional Guest Artist @annette_updo_artist, Joico International Guest Artistic Director @richardmannah and Sexy Hair Guest Artist @antestradahair took the stage and dished on all things styling, like how accessories are an easy and affordable way to give styles an edge, the secret to achieving soft, long-lasting bridal updos and tricks for keeping braids balanced and clean.

Hair Cutting: Double The Fun

2019 is the year of the haircut, so we expanded our cutting education to not one, but TWO segments. First, L’ANZA Healing Haircare Global Creative Director @matt.swinney, Virtue®️ Brand Ambassador @buddywporter and BTC Team Member @chrisjones_hair demoed three must-know moneymaking cuts (bobs, lobs and long layers), while Victory Barber & Brand Founder @mattyconrad shared his tips for stellar men’s cutting.

Let’s Talk All Things Texture

Ulta Beauty Pro Team Member @pekelariley, The SALON by InStyle Creative Director @michelleoconnorbeauty and BTC Team Member @evanjosephcurls teamed up and tackled one hair type that intimidates most stylists: texture. While Evan broke down a curly cut using his one curl at a time technique, Pekela and Michelle shared the importance of being patient and focusing on the shape when styling naturally textured hair whether in the salon or at a shoot.

Balayage & Blondes

The two most-liked color techniques on Insta? Balayage and blonding! So we got the ultimate squad together to showcase their techniques: Joico Brand Ambassador @larisadollSchwarzkopf Professional Artistic Team Member and BTC Team Member @lizhaven, BTC Team Member @lo_wheelerdavis and Jack Winn of @jackwinnpro. From low-maintenance, sun-kissed color to timesaving painting tips and the importance of mixing a little at a time, these blonders didn’t hold back on the education.
