8 Hair & Beauty Moments From The 2021 Grammy Awards
BTC Recap: The Best Hair & Beauty Looks Of The 2021 Grammy Awards
If you’re like us or anyone else on the internet, you haven’t stopped thinking about the Harry Styles green feather boa moment at the 2021 Grammy Awards—and of course, all of our fave celebs doing the most with hair and beauty looks. From Doja Cat’s mullet to Dua Lipa’s bombshell waves, we’re rounding up BTC’s top hair moments from the show, plus some pro tips from the stylists behind the looks!
1. Lizzo
We are feelin’ good as hell about Lizzo’s extra long, ultra-sleek look. Celeb stylist Shelby Swain (@theshelbyswain) prepped with Matrix Total Results Miracle Creator Multi-Tasking Hair Treatment after blow-drying with the ghd Helios Hair Dryer. After the treatment, she ran through the hair with the ghd Max Styler for extra smoothness. Shelby finished with the ghd Narrow Dressing Brush and Total Results Miss Mess Dry Finishing Spray to set flyaways with a light hold.
Pro Tip: Before any styling, Shelby prepped the foundation by washing Lizzo’s hair with Matrix Total Results Dark Envy Shampoo and Conditioner to neutralize red undertones, enrich the dark base color and create a glossy finish.

2. Doja Cat
Alexa, play Best Friend on repeat! 2021 continues to be the year of the mullet, thanks to Doja and this dream team: cut by Charli Boll (@shrunknheads), color by Jessica Jewel (@thejesjewel) and styled by Jared Henderson (@jstayready_). Pro mullet tip: “Take out some of the interior, so the mullet can dance a little,” says Charli.

4. Megan Thee Stallion
Can’t talk right now, Meg is doing hot girl sh*t—winning Grammy awards, collabing with Queen Bey and shutting down the stage like a savage. Meg’s stylist Kellon Deryck (@kellonderyck) showed up with not one, but THREE different looks for Meg. Here’s a fast breakdown of how he transitioned each look.
Look #1: French Twist
Kellon used the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer to blow-dry Meg’s beautiful thick, curly hair. Then, he curled and styled it into a French twist with face-framing curls.
Look #2: Vintage Deep Waves
Curl tightly with the Dyson Corrale™ Straightener and pin the curls into place. Allow to cool and comb the waves into style, finishing with a firm hairspray and the cool shot on the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer. Add a shine serum for extra glow.
Look #3: Long & Ultra-Sleek
Kellon did a quick blowout and added some extra length. He chose the cordless Dyson Corrale™ Straightener to smooth everything out FAST.

5. Harry Styles
The perfect Grammy’s look doesn’t exist—oh wait, it does! Harry Styles just made history with a series of perfection: the green feather boa, the leather performance ensemble and obvi, the yellow plaid fit worthy of Cher Horowitz! And. That. Hair. Salon Benjamin’s Candice Birns (@hairbycandicebirns) just inspired every men’s groomer out there with Harry’s tousled crop, because it’s just that good.

6. Maren Morris
We are living for country superstar Maren Morris’ shadow-rooted blonde and S-waves—and we know your clients are, too! Here are a few pro tips from Nashville-based stylist Marwa Bashir (@marwabashirhair) on how to recreate the look.
- Prep with R+Co BLEU OPTICAL ILLUSION Smoothing Oil.
- Create S-waves on the front and surface, leaving the hair underneath straight to avoid creating volume.
- Apply R+Co ZIG ZAG Root Teasing & Texture Spray to the mids and ends for matte texture.
- Use CONTROL Flexible Paste to define the hairline waves and ends.
- Finish by applying OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray to a toothbrush to lay the part line flat.

7. Cardi B
We have one word to describe Cardi B’s rose gold pixie: OKURRR! Her go-to stylist, the iconic Mia Jackson (@tokyostylez) cut and prelightened the wig to a bright Level 9 with Joico Blonde Life Powder Lightener + 20-volume LumiShine developer. For that perfect rose gold hue, she filled a sink with hot water and mixed in Color Intensity Rose Gold, dipped the wig in and processed for 10 minutes.
Pro Tip: Use Joico Defy Damage ProSeries 1 and 2 to maintain integrity throughout the wig coloring process.
How To Recreate Cardi’s Sleek Pixie:
- Apply a dime-sized amount of Joico Blonde Life Brilliant Glow Brightening Oil to the palms and run through for shine and moisture.
- Spray JoiMist Firm Finishing Spray and comb in the style using the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer with the styling Concentrator attachment on low heat setting.
- Finish with Joico Humidity Blocker Plus Protective Finishing Spray to seal the look.

8. H.E.R.
Winning the Grammy award for Song of the Year and getting nominated for an Oscar is just a typical weekend for H.E.R. Let’s add coolest eye makeup look, nails and hair to that list! We call this look: ’70s crushed velvet. Nina Monique (@ninamoniquehair) gave H.E.R. dreamy waves that paired perfectly with iridescent shimmery eyes by Marissa Vossen (@marissavossenmakeup) and a gothic, name-plated mani by Chaun Legend (@chaunlegend).
