    Working with a standard horseshoe parting, freehand clipper with a #1 blade and moderate tension to create an aggressively short shape with maximum scalp exposure.

    Once you reach the bottom of Zone 2, be sure to remain square with the shape. Do not graduate or round in the back of the head.

    Next, freehand with the #0000 blade to refine the fade and use clipper over comb and fanning over comb to refine the top of Zone 2.

    If applicable, use horizontal sections for moderate weight at the transition and top of the head. Connect to the guide under the horseshoe parting at the back of the ear.

    Apply American Crew® Techseries Texture Foam, then use a paddle brush and blow dryer to form the top section into the desired elevated shape. 

     

    Note: The silhouette should be up and slightly back, resembling a pompadour without the bend.

    Secure the hair in the clipper comb and remove the length from back to front with a #1 blade. Be sure to maintain the square shape.

    If necessary, use side-to-side sections across the top to remove excess length. Cut long by only cutting at the center top, overdirecting to the previous sections for added length at the front.

    Slide cut using a razor at a simple angle with moderate depth in the area of support to target the hair back and up. This will encourage surface texture and direction.
