Justin Anderson’s “Bomb-Ass” Miley Cyrus Platinum
Bomb-Ass White. What other name could describe the perfect platinum blonde à la Ms. Miley Cyrus that Justin Anderson demonstrated on the BTC “On Tour” stage? Oh, by the way, this was our first-ever “On Tour” event, and we featured a stellar lineup of celebrity stylists giving us the dish on their coloring, cutting and styling secrets. It was kind of a big deal, especially since we took over the iconic Chicago Theatre, complete with “BTC” and “sold out” on the marquee! And GUESS WHAT? We’re going back “On Tour” in May at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles! Tickets are on sale NOW!
On stage, Justin was very precise and cognizant of how he mixed the color formula—he compared the texture and sheen of the lightener to sour cream—and how he applied the lightener. All over toner? Hell no! One solid tone across the length of the hair? Nope, not gonna happen! If you missed the adorbs Justin on the “On Tour” stage, you’re in luck: he gave us the full scoop on how he brings this bodacious blonde to life—you have to check it out!

HOW-TO STEPS
-
1
With Formula A, lightly tap the regrowth section with the application brush. Work in 1/4-inch sections, placing cotton between each section.
-
2
After the re-touch application, cap while processing. Process under low heat for 10 minutes, then continue processing time with an additional 20 minutes without heat. Reapply Formula A throughout processing time if needed.
-
3
Rinse, shampoo and lightly condition. Gently dry the hair.
Note: This model’s ends were super yellow, so to blend them, Justin balayaged Formula B with meche strips and a balayage paddle, making sure not to overlap the lightener on the lightest sections. Then he placed her under the dryer for five minutes before rinsing and drying.
-
4
Next, paint Formula C in ½-inch sections, using meche strips to isolate. Work from “top to drop” on the head.
-
5
Once the desired tone is reached, use Formula D at the bowl. Apply with a brush 1-inch from the root and in ½-inch sections. Apply in a circular pattern, and color the perimeter area last. Process for seven minutes. Rinse and style.
