2018 saw a lot of diverse trends in haircolor. But if there’s one that’s going to continue well into the New Year, it’s the shadow blonde trend. This rooty variation of ombré has been on the scene for a while now, but climbed to the top of the haircolor charts earlier this year when spotted on celebs like Emma Roberts, Miley Cyrus and Kate Mara. Case in point? This high contrast shadow blonde from BTC Member Lily Duong received almost 20,000 likes when we posted it on our social media channels earlier this month. And because Lily is such a pro, she shared the entire color transformation—two years in the making—with us!

Lily’s client, Frances, came to her as a color correction 1½ years ago.
Throughout four, separate processes over a two-year period, Lily used a variation of this formula.
