Prep damp hair with Aveda Brilliant™ Damage Control.

Apply Aveda Phomollient™ Styling Foam and wrap-dry the hair. Wind 1- or 2-inch sections around a large metal clip, twisting as you wrap.

Comb the hair to its natural parting. Beginning in the nape, take a 1- or 2-inch section, and wrap it around a large metal duck bill clip from roots to ends using a twist-and-turn technique.

Using a flat iron with medium heat, press the hair on the clips for 20 to 30 seconds or until the hair is heated through.

Remove the clips, let the hair cool, separate with fingers and brush through.

Repeat until all the hair is set, pressed and cooled. Separate the curls with your fingers to create definition.

Brush the curls with a Mason Pearson brush to create a fuller shape, and apply Aveda Light Elements™ Texturizing Creme as needed to refine the texture. Set the final shape with Aveda Brilliant™ Medium Hold Hair Spray.

Dreamy Texture Twist

“Just plain straight” or “kinda curly” doesn’t cut it these days. Modern textures must be extraordinary—coiled, crimped and positively glorious. The Aveda team has turned out expressive, intricate textures in their latest collection called Rare Bloom, and they created each of them with a variety of ingenious texturizing tricks. Here is how Allen Ruiz, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Hair Styling, created a dreamy, texturized twist.
