REVERSE MONEY PIECE FORMULA
Traditionally, money pieces are a pop of light or bold color around the face that pack a dramatic punch. But this year, we’ve spotted some killer variations of this trend as an update to the ’90s color resurgence. Enter the reverse money piece.
When we first saw this dark money piece look on color expert Meg Schipani’s (@shmeggsandbaconn) IG, we HAD to find out everything. Scroll through to get formulas, pricing and all the details you need to know for recreating this look.
What you need to know:
Meg’s client came to her requesting a nude blonde and a chocolate money piece. However, she had previously been the turquoise color melt pictured below. While it had faded quite a bit, there was still a LOT of turquoise left. After performing the soap cap, there was still too much turquoise to have an even canvas. That’s when Meg and her client decided to improvise.
Meg gave her client two options: Leave the pale mint and try to lift it out at a later session or switch the plan to a butter-into-rose color melt, with the idea that the rose would cancel the green out as it faded and leave her with the all-over blonde she originally wanted. So that’s what they decided and the results were STUNNING.
