How To Formulate A Cowboy Copper Balayage

By now, you’re probably already familiar with the term “Cowboy Copper;” a warm, desert-inspired copper hair color that blends traditional copper with deeper, earthy, bronzed tones. And while the hair color has been popular for the past few seasons—Google searches indicate this trend isn’t letting up just yet. So, since we predict this shade will continue to show up on your clients’ inspo pics, we’re sharing the exact formulation for this cowboy copper balayage by BTC Team Member Karla Leschitz (@kl.hairartist).

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Formula A (lightener)

    Moroccanoil® Blonde Voyage Powder Lightener + Color Rhapsody 20-volume 6% Oxidative Cream Developer (1:1)

    Moroccanoil® Color Calypso Demis 5C + 8C + 8G + Color Calypso Demi-Permanent Gloss Activator (1:1)

     

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A in foils by taking clean slices for bold, controlled brightness, then finishing with tip-outs to saturate and lighten the ends for an extra pop of dimension. Let foils process then rinse.

2. On damp hair at the shampoo bowl, apply Formula B from roots to ends. Let process then rinse.
