Looking for a way to usher your summer blondes into the cooler months? Here’s your answer. A deep, dimensional, lowlight balayage from #ONESHOT winner Megan Schipani (@shmeggsandbaconn).

“Grace came in to me with a brassy Level 8 heavy highlight with about 1.5 inches of regrowth wanting to transition to something with less maintenance and a little bit darker for fall,” says Megan. Here’s what she did.

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Formula A:

Wella Professionals Color Touch 5/97 + 6-volume developer (Gentle) + b3 Brazilian Bond Builder

  • Formula B:

Wella Professionals BLONDOR FREELIGHTS + a dash of Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME + FREELIGHTS 30-volume developer + b3 Brazilian Bond Builder

FORMULA STEPS

1. Start by shampooing with Fanola No Yellow Shampoo, leaving it on for 15 minutes to pre-tone the previous blonde. Rinse and dry.

2. Blend her regrowth down using Formula A all over.

3. Section the hair into wide, diagonal triangular sections. Paint Formula B on the high points of each triangular section to brighten up the brassy blonde to a bright Level 10.

4. Outline the low points with Formula A. Process all sections in balayage film without direct heat for 40 minutes.

5. Tone new highlights with Formula C.

6. Follow with the b3 Brazilian Bond Builder Instant Restore & Protect Reconstructor Treatment. Style with a Bio Ionic Long Barrel Styler Pro Curling Iron and Kenra Professional Platinum Dry Texture Spray 6 and Volume Spray 25.
