Skin Fade Close-Up

Don't fear the fade!

close formula

Your male clients want to get faded—but the idea of clippers makes you nervous. Don’t fear the fade! BTC was in Denver with Floyd’s 99 Barbershop and brought you an exclusive how-to live on Facebook. Watch as Nick Kinsley, National Educator, and Patrick Butler, Director of Education, show you simple steps to get the perfect fade your men want.

Some fade tips from Nick and Patrick you should remember:

  • Always do a thorough consultation. Assess his head shape and where his occipital bone is, and consider his hair texture, bone structure and growth pattern. Clipper work exposes a lot of things, so be prepared.
  • Don’t feel like you need a bunch of clippers or trimmers to achieve this look. Nick used just one clipper and one trimmer, plus a feather nape razor.
  • Ceramic blades don’t get as hot and can get closer, giving you more control and allowing you to work longer.
  • Use a cutting agent when shaving down to the skin to protect the client. Nick used Floyd’s 99 Refresh Leave-In Conditioner for Hair and Body.

Now get to fading!
