These 6 Hairstyles Will be Everywhere This Fall & Winter
We’ve officially entered the 2024 ‘ber months which means fall is here and BTC Editors have been scoping out fall/winter hair trends everywhere from New York Fashion Week, to industry events, to our social media feeds. And one thing is for sure: trending hairstyles are pivoting very styled styles to effortless, natural-looking ones is a big redirection that even we weren’t prepared for.
For a further look at six of the trending minimalistic styles we think your clients will embrace in the fall and winter months, read on.
1. The French Twist
The ’90s Pamela Anderson-inspired updo is reverting to its classic roots with the revival of the French twist. Pam’s piecey style has been everywhere the past couple of years but now your clients are looking for something more simple, refined and classic. The fall 2024 version of the French twist is seeing all of the hair completely up with minimal face-framing pieces if any and finished with a satin texture.
Here’s a look at the trending French twist:
Backstage at New York Fashion Week: Where Hairstyle Trends Emerge
Talking to lead stylists backstage at New York Fashion Week Spring 2025 is what really solidified the upcoming low-effort hair trends as “easy, air-dried and not glamorous” were themes we heard from show to show. From the Monse show led by Kien Hoang (@kienhoang) using Oribe products to the Tibi show led by Frank Rizzieri (@frankrizzieri) using Aveda products to the Simkhai show led by Holli Smith (@hollismithhead) using Tresemme and Shark Beauty, airy and effortless was the name of the game. “It’s easy, not glamorous, puffy but not voluminous,” said Kien, Oribe’s Principal Artist of Global Design when creating the hair look for the Monse show.
2. “Cloud Curls” & Air-Dried Textures
While letting hair air dry shouldn’t necessarily be reduced to a trend, being intentional with the way you style the air-dried hair so it results in bouncy, fluffy results is something we’re seeing a lot of this season. OLAPLEX Ambassador and evo Haircare International Colour Director, Tom Smith (@tomsmithhd) has coined the fluffy-textured, ethereal look “Cloud Curls” and told BTC exactly how your clients can achieve this look:
“Cloud Curls are all about celebrating the 3D nature of curly and textured hair,” Tom said. “With a soft cloudy and slightly fluffy texture, the hair looks ethereal and carefree.”
- Here’s how naturally curly hair can achieve Cloud Curls: Air dry the curls, shake them out once dry then finish with texture spray for volume and lift.
- Here’s straight or wavy hair can achieve Cloud Curls: Once hair is dry, use a curling iron to curl the hair and alternate the direction you curl with each section. Separate the hair with your fingers or a wide tooth comb then finish by shaking the hair upside down for maximum volume. Use evo haze styling powder to finish.
- Pro Tip: Those with fine hair can best achieve this look if they have short or medium-length hair.

3. Part-Free Slick-Back
The clean girl aesthetic’s center-parted slick-back bun has also been refined and is now part-less. We’re seeing slick-backs take over red carpets and our social media feeds alike and they’re being styled into buns, ponytails and downstyles. The only stipulation? The styles are completely off the face, styled to the back and finished with a wet-looking texture.

4. Glass Hair
Shiny, healthy-looking hair has always been sought after but the ultra-sleek, polished and lustrous Glass Hair trend takes it to another level. According to Bumble and bumble stylist Erickson Arrunategu (@erickinvisible), the reflective, almost-liquidy finish is all about the products used.
To create the below glass-like sheen, Erickson suggests prepping the hair with Bumble and bumble Bond Building Repair Styling Cream and Thermal Protection Mist before straightening. He finished by spraying Color Wow Extra Mystical Shine Spray from mid-shaft to ends.

5. Straight Blowouts
The trending bouncy blowouts from the past few seasons are being traded in for straighter, less voluminous and easier-to-style looks. The smooth, sleek styles are still utilizing round brushes but concentrating the most shape and body towards the ends of the hair.

6. Flipped-Out Bob
Bobs have been everywhere this year and this season’s flipped-out bobs are now trending thanks to their versatility. The ’60s-inspired look is timeless yet has been reworked for 2024 to have a more polished, softer finish regardless of hair texture.
