California Becomes the Latest State to Require Textured Hair Education
California State Law now Requires Cosmetology Schools to Teach Textured Hair Education On September 23, 2024, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law requiring the inclusion of textured hair education in the state's cosmetology licensing requirements and curriculums. California is the fifth state to do so following Louisiana, New York, Minnesota and Connecticut.
