The colorist responsible for this killer transformation? Shannon Rha (@shannonrha), owner of Shannon Hair in Santa Clarita Valley, Calif.

Shannon demoed this foilayage and babylights technique (which she uses to achieve softer, more organic color and lift her clients to an icy blonde in one sitting) for her WORKSHOP class at Shannon Hair. Here’s how she did it.

  • Formula A

    Wella Professionals Blondor Lightener + 20-volume developer + Olaplex No.1

  • Formula B

    Blondor + 35-volume developer + Olaplex No.1

HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

    Apply Formula A, starting in the back and working your way toward the front. When you reach the front, use Formula B. 

  • 2

    At the shampoo bowl, tone the roots using Formula C.

  • 3

    From the line of demarcation to the ends, apply Formula D.

  • 4

    Process for 10 minutes, rinse, then tone using Formula E all over. Finish with Olaplex No.2.

    For the cut, Shannon used a razor to take off length and add texture. To give some separation and remove weight, she twist-cut into each section.
