The Bridal Chignon from Kenra Professional

Bridal season is in full swing! Soon your chair will be filled with blushing brides-to-be looking for the perfect hairstyle to wow all their guests, and, of course, the groom, on their big day. To help get your mind focused on something borrowed and something blue, the pros at Kenra Professional created this classic chignon. Timeless, elegant and simply stunning—this is the perfect updo befit for any and every bride. Here’s how it’s done using Stylist Choice Awards repeat winner for Favorite Hairspray and Product You Can’t Live Without, Kenra Volume Spray 25!

HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

Prep hair with Kenra Platinum Thickening Mousse and rough-dry hair until 70 percent dry.

  • 2

Blow-dry hair in sections, overdirecting with a round brush at the roots to add volume.

  • 3

Spray Kenra Platinum Hot Spray 20 on 1-inch sections and curl each section parallel to the part using a 1¼-inch curling iron. Pin the curls with double prong pins and let cool.

  • 4

Section the hair from ear to ear and brush out the curls in the back section with a boar bristle brush, creating a low ponytail. Secure with an elastic band. Split the pony behind the band and loop the pony through the split.

  • 5

Lightly tease the hair in the pony, smoothing the under portion with a brush and tuck the remaining hair half way through the split section to create a chignon. Secure with bobby pins.

  • 6

Take 2-inch sections from one side, loosely twist away from the face and cross it to the opposite side of the chignon. Secure with a hair pin. Take a 2-inch section from the other side, loosely twisting away from the face, and cross the hair to the opposite side of the chignon. Secure with a pin and repeat by creating a crisscross action.

  • 7

Lightly tease your twists to help hold the shape you are creating in place.

  • 8

Using Texturizing Taffy 13 to tame flyaways. Detail the upstyle by using hair pins to secure twists.

  • 9

    Finished look.
