Our salon will celebrate our 20th year in business this year. We are family-owned and started as a husband/wife team in 1986 to mother/daughter team in 2006. Our hairstyling stations, desk, shampoo area and retail areas were all built by my father back in '86 (if you see it, you can totally tell…you can't find stations & desks in hot pink).
We deserve a makeover because we are a local; neighborhood salon who caters to the community it serves. To take our business to the next level of professionalism, we'd like to be blessed with some cool, new furnishings. Our clientele has turned over from one generation in the eighties to another in 2000 w/ first children's first haircuts done in our salon, to now their children having their first haircuts too. We would love to be able to offer a whole new salon experience w/ new furnishings. Thank you for the opportunity to share our story.

I love the business! I love hairdressing, but mainly, I love helping people. It makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy to have a client come into my salon in need of my services, and leave, not only looking fantastic, but also feeling good about themselves; with more confidence and style. I have a long hairdressing career, (25 yrs.) and I have worked both on land, and also on cruise ships; which really helped me grow with my people skills, and also enabled me to learn from other hairdressers that came from many other countries; in other words, I REALLY learned a lot from them!
Now, I am starting my life over (after a deep personal crisis) in a new state. I've been in business less than one year, and each day I’ve been so amazed at how God has smiled down upon me and given me so much business; each morning I ask for His leadership- to guide me to give my best service and do the right thing; what each client needs, and each evening I’m so amazed at my efforts, I give thanks; not only for my earnings, but for having such a great and prosperous day! I'm a very fortunate gal!
I would love to win this contest mainly because I have so much enthusiasm for my business, and I think it would be so fantastic to have a really super fantastic salon to call my own! I'm renting a building now, but I have a cute small house (a small English Tudor style) picked out; for when I feel I can afford to buy. If I won this contest, I’d feel comfortable buying it now; and with the furnishings I’d win; WOW! I'd feel even more blessed!

I do not know if I am deserving, I would just like to have a salon makeover. When we put the salon together we did not start with new equipment. Being a small town hair dresser who caters to the senior citizens, we were on a budget so we could keep our prices lower for the seniors who live on a budget and cannot afford high price. Everything I have in the Salon is all second-hand furniture; the only things we bought brand new were the mirrors.
My ladies that are faithful every week get so excited when little things happen in the shop, if I won this would really knock their socks off. Thank you and God Bless.

Well my name is Kimberly Cook, and I own the salon with my mother. My mother has run it for over 20 years, and done a fantastic job. I would love to help in some way. I feel that we deserve a makeover because we are a very friendly and family oriented salon. When someone walks through the doors of our salon they are treated just like family. They are welcomed with a smile and a heartfelt hello. We try very hard to make it a nice salon, but when you don’t have a lot of money it is hard.
If we can make one person happy, or change their life for the better it is all worth it. We love what we do and that is why we do it. We will most likely not become millionaires, but we have helped so many people in these days and age when it is hard for a lot of people. We keep our prices lower because or the layoffs and job cut backs. I really hope you consider us for the makeover, and a make world of difference for a smaller town and lot of well deserved people.
Thanks for taking the time to consider us.

My husband and I opened our salon in 2003 with money we received from refinancing our home. Unfortunately we had to buy used equipment. We attempted the decorating ourselves. We made the salon as comfortable and inviting as possible with the money we had to work with. We have a great staff who are focused on customer service.
Our staff has just received our newspapers Readers Choice Awards for best hair salon, best hairdresser, best nail tech and best massage therapist for our county. This is the first time one salon has received this many honors. My staff keeps a notebook where they have organized what they would like our salon to look like. Our problem is after our salon was hit by Hurricane Rita and we had to pay for major damage to our building and equipment there is little money for redecorating. It would make my staff so happy if our salon had a new look. My staff deserves to work in a salon that looks as professional as they are.
