Seamless Sombre

Borders, languages, cultures—although these aspects of our lives make us unique, they also separate us. In the past, these barriers were impenetrable, preventing us from exchanging ideas and having the opportunity to talk to people we never would have interacted with otherwise. Then, the Internet happened.

Meet Altin—a hairstylist from Mitrovica, Kosovo and fan of BTC. He is a very talented freehand colorist with a passion for adding dimension and layers to dull tresses. We reached out to feature him through Facebook, but Altin feared his lack of English fluency would prevent him from providing a comprehensive step-by-step. We assured him: Beautiful hair speaks all languages! Here is his stunning seamless sombré, all the way from Kosovo!

 

HOW-TO STEPS

    Wella Professionals Color Formulas
    Formula A: Koleston Perfect 5/0 + 10-volume developer
    Formula B: Wella Professionals BLONDOR + 20-volume developer
    Formula C: Wella Professional ILLUMINA 1.9 + 7/43
    Formula D: 2 oz. Koleston Perfect 7/75 + 1 oz. Koleston Perfect 9/7 + 10-volume developer

    Process for 30 minutes.

    With the hair completely dry, start at the nape, taking horizontal sections and weaving the backcombed hair with Formula B (Wella Professionals BLONDOR + 20-volume developer).

    With the remaining hair from the weave, apply Formula C (Wella Professional ILLUMINA 1.9 + 7/43) using smaller sections as you approach the top.

    Process for 30 minutes.

    Apply Formula A (Koleston Perfect 5/0 + 10-volume developer) to the roots. Use a wide-tooth comb and start gently combing down from the roots to the midshafts to create a more blended look and ensure there is no line of demarcation.

    After shampooing and towel-drying the hair, apply Formula D (2 oz. Koleston Perfect 7/75 + 1 oz. Koleston Perfect 9/7 + 10-volume developer) from roots to ends. Process for 20 minutes.
