Rainbow Room Manhattan by Suzie McGill

The inspiration for the Manhattan Collection by Suzie McGill of Rainbow Room International, Scottish Hairdresser of the Year Finalist 2006, came from a recent trip to New York… people watching, looking at different fashions and trends.  Mixing the classic with contemporary throughout the decade.

HOW-TO STEPS

    1

    Hair cut:
    Starting at the back, take pie sections at 45 degrees angle work symmetrically, over directing sides into the guideline at the back.  Scooping arch shaped fringe at the front.

    Colouring:
    Working on deep segment shapes through crown using rich violet tones to create beautiful shine working in between with semi-permanent colour 3.0 to enhance shadows.

    Styling:
    Hair was blow dried through the crown area to provide added lift and volume, hair at the end was straightened for a glossy and shiny finish.

    Products used for colouring:
    Schwarzkopf Igora Royal. 4.99 segments through top. 3.0 Vibrance using 1.9 lotion.

    Products used for styling:
    TIGI S-factor Dream Drops to leave hair smooth and glossy, Chic Shine to provide great hold with a sleek finish.

    Hair cut:
    Cutting in a graduated bob shape texturizing with razor to create movement.  From temple to temple cutting short exaggerated fringe.

    Colouring:
    Working in spiral technique starting from crown using foil back to back to create tones and shadow.

    Styling:
    Finger drying through back to create volume and straightening through front.

    Products used for colouring:
    3.0, 5.7, 6.87, 5.0 Igora Royale, Schwarzkopf

    Products used for styling:
    TIGI S-factor Chic Shine to provide great hold, finishing with Creamy Moulding Wax for texture and shine.

    Hair cut:
    Starting at crown pulling up 90 degress to create shorter layers.  Using elevated layers to leave as much length as possible.  Texturizing through using flick technique for texture.

    Colouring:
    Working back to back with foil using similar tones to create depth and texture

    Styling:
    Setting crown with barrel curl technique then twist curling through hair to add separation.

    Products used for colouring: 
    6.65, 8.65, 7.57, 5.5 Igora Royale, Schwarzkopf.

    Products used for styling:
    TIGI S-factor Surreal Straightening XXL Ceramic Brush to create volume, Chic Shine to provide great hold with a sleek finish and Dream Drops to leave hair smooth and glossy.

    Hair cut:
    Taking triangular sections of hair through the crown pulling all hair from the parietal bone to meet short section. Then texture through remaining length with razor to create soft texture.

    Colouring:
    Working through haircut taking random sections to create shadow, 2 shades lighter that natural colour.  Washing through the rest with clear colour wash for healthy shine.
     
    Styling:
    Twist hair around finger to create a tousled look. Then using a diffuser to slowly and gently dry.

    Products used for colouring:
    8.65 and 9.5 Igora Royal Schwarzkopf (9%) for random slices and Vibrace 0.40 with 1.9 lotion for shine.

    Products used for styling:
    TIGI S-factor Dream Dropsto leave hair smooth and glossy, Creamy Moulding Wax to create soft movement with hold and shine.
