HOW-TO STEPS

    1

    Select Techniques

Sectioning – Consider the shape of the head and natural fall of the hair when selecting the style; determine the optimal starting point and from that point, comb the hair in all directions to ensure that it naturally falls from this point; section the hair in a pinwheel pattern from the starting point.

Application – Section the hair into straight parts (slices). Apply the color formula section by section and cover with foil. The individual sections may vary in width to achieve various color effects.
Design Elements – Repetition, Alternation, Diffusion (see step-by-step)

    Choose the Palette/Color Formulas

    Create

Follow the Orbital sectioning as shown in the diagram. Apply formula (a) to section 1, formula (b) to section 2, and formula (c) to section 4 (alternation).

Starting at the right ear and working around the head, color section 3 using the slicing technique, as follows:

On the first slice, apply formula (b) from the scalp through 2/3 of the length. Then apply formula (a) to the remaining 1/3 of the length, including the ends. Where the two formulas meet, ensure that they overlap slightly by holding the color brush upright (diffusion).

Next, color two complete slices with formula (b).

Color the next slice with formula (a).

Then color the following two slices with formula (b).

For the next slice apply formula (b) from the scalp through 2/3 of the length, and formula (a) to the remaining 1/3 of the length, including the ends. Remember to overlap shades slightly.

Follow this pattern (repetition) until all of section 3 is colored. Once the section is complete, leave to process for approximately 30 minutes, lifting the hair treated with formula (a) to a subtle, light gold (level 10).

Apply Colorance formula (d) to sections 1 and 3 while the hair is slightly damp and leave to process for 20 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.

Trend 2003 is the launch of new trend colors that will be brought into the Goldwell color line. As part of that introduction, Goldwell uses the “Orbital technique” to show great ways to apply these hot colors.

By placing color on a curve, following the natural shape of the head there are no blunt, harsh divisions, color flows with the movement of the hair and crescent-shaped sections create a reversible effect, depending on how the hair is styled.

    Prepare the Canvas

This intriguing color step-by-step starts with a twist on the traditional bob – classic meets urban chic – featuring longer cover hair around the contours. The fringe and sides frame the face with an oval, asymmetric wave. The body is undercut to a line that extends toward the curve of the neck to reduce volume, allowing the hair to rest close to the head.
