How-To: Modernized French Twist

The French twist is a perennial classic—depending on how you style it, you can go from glamorous to elegant to edgy. For this version, use your fingers instead of a brush to smooth the midlengths and ends before pinning the seam to make the twist look more “undone” and modern. Get the how-to!

Apply Kadus Professional Dramatize It, a strong-hold mousse that gives volume for up to 24 hours, to the roots. Blow-dry, then lightly backcomb the roots of the crown and back areas. Smooth the midlengths and ends with a soft brush, then pull the hair to the lower back of the head, slightly overdirecting to one side. Create a “seam” in the back with pins.

Take the remaining hair and carefully, but firmly, wrap around one hand.

Gently withdraw your hand and hold the rolled hair in place. Secure the roll from the inside with hair pins.

Finish with a spray of Kadus Extra Lock, an extra-strong hairspray that can be an extreme-hold depending on how much you use.
