Start with clean, dry hair and create an off-center part. To prep the hair for styling, spray Aveda Pure Abundance Style-Prep throughout the hair from roots to ends. Then, brush it out to distribute the product evenly and add natural bulk to each strand.

Create a low braid and secure at the bottom with an elastic. Massage Aveda Control Paste into the braid to build texture, then loosen it with your fingertips. Apply just a hint of heat to the braid to lock in the pliable hold, then clip it up to cool it down.

Take the braid out and add an extra bend in the hair with a 1-inch flat iron. Spray the roots of the hair with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray for a flexible, lasting hold. Its dry delivery will add a matte appearance.
Imperfect Waves from Aveda
Aveda Global Artistic Director for Hair Styling, Allen Ruiz created ‘flyaway texture’ for Public School’s Fall/Winter 2014 Collection. “I took inspiration from the layered elements in the line. The off-center, uneven part makes it purposely less than perfect. I brought texture back into the hair by layering products to ‘mess it up’ and enhance movement.”
This season, Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne introduce their very first Women’s collection, which is “the perfect counterpart to the existing Men’s line – they’re best friends – this was designed for a guy/girl couple. It’s clean and undone but street, creating layers and texture.”
