  • Formula A (lightener):

    Lightener + 40-volume Redken Pro-Oxide Cream Developer + Redken pH-Bonder No.1 Bond Protecting Additive

  • Formula B (toner):

    ½ oz. Redken Shades EQ 09T + ½ oz. Shades EQ 09N + 1 oz. Crystal Clear + 2 oz. Processing Solution

Need to amp up the blondies in your chair? We know the secret ingredient for creating super-light locks while keeping the hair protected and healthy: Redken’s pH-Bonder! And, according to Silvia Reis (@silviaxreis), a salon owner in San Francisco, it’s a staple product that all blonde specialists should be using. Check out her formulas and steps for creating this icy highlighted look, and her reasons why pH-Bonder makes all the difference when working on blondes. 

 

Why pH-Bonder? It helps maintain the hair’s natural pH balance and keeps it from breaking during bleaching or coloring. Plus, it keeps the color shiny and ensures an even lift when doing highlights.

 

Remember This: Always mix the developer and lightener/color before mixing in the pH-Bonder. Also, know that with pH-Bonder there is no change in the processing time, no need to bump up the developer and it will maintain the expected lift.

HOW-TO STEPS

    Starting on a client who is a natural Level 6 with some grown-out highlights, take small sections and highlight the entire head using Formula A. (You can leave out a bottom section at the nape if your client is OK with that.)

    Let process until desired lightness is achieved and rinse. Do not shampoo. While at the bowl, tone with Formula B, let process up to 20 minutes and rinse.

    Next, apply the pH-Bonder No. 2 Fiber Restorative Pre-Wash Concentrate throughout the entire head. Leave on the hair for 10 minutes at room temperature. Then, rinse thoroughly and follow up with Redken Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner.

    Finally, give your client the pH-Bonder No. 3 Post-Service Perfector to take home. They should apply it once a week to wet hair before shampooing and conditioning.
