French Faux Hawk

“A Mohawk with the sophistication of a French twist,” is how Michael Shaun Corby, Living Proof Global Creative Director, explains this look. If your client is inspired by the ’70s or ’80s punk scene, but still wants a style with a dash of class—this is a definite go-to. Here’s how Michael created the look.

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Start with hair that has been curled and sprayed with Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast. Then section out the crown.

2

Take the remaining hair and gather it into a ponytail, securing the elastic 4 inches from the ends.

3

Twist the section in an upward direction until a French twist shape is formed, then secure with pins.

4

Tie the hair in a knot right above the elastic.

5

Lightly backcomb the crown section with your fingers, spread to create a light tease.

6

Roll into a Mohawk shape, pinning as you secure.

7

Pin random sections to create additional volume and spray Full Dry Volume Blast.

8

Spray Full Dry Volume Blast as you pinch the ends for more texture.
