How-To: Badass Fingerwaves

close formula

When we spotted this sick fingerwaved look on Joseph DiMaggio’s Instagram (@fashionmeetspassion), we had to get the details. The Davines Master Session Ambassador created this look for Kelly Osbourne on a top-secret set (seriously, he wouldn’t reveal the show that was taping!). Luckily, he DID give us the how-to for this edgy-meets-elegant look, perfect for a classy badass like Kelly.

HOW-TO STEPS

  • 1

Prep the hair with Davines Your Hair Assistant Blowdry Primer to help seal the cuticle, then flat-wrap blow-dry for maximum shine.

  • 2

Section the hair from the crown to the nape and give it a little vertical backcomb to create a base for a tight French twist.

  • 3

Starting at the nape, twist and pin the roll all the way to the crown, then brush the ends (from the crown) into the front with the rest of the hair to be fingerwaved.

  • 4

Going section by section, apply Davines This Is A Strong Hold Cream Gel about 3 to 4 inches from the root. Feather out the roots with a fine-tooth comb to distribute the gel through the ends.

  • 5

Begin the fingerwaves in the front, waving forward to create the first wave on the forehead. Continue back and forth, using a wide-tooth comb to wave, then switching to a fine-tooth comb to combine and clean the waves.

  • 6

Pincurl the ends into and underneath the fingerwaves, and apply a little more gel onto the skin so the wave stays put.

  • 7

Finish with Davines This Is A Medium Hold Hairspray.
