High Pony With a Twist from Joico

Do the twist! This swank ponytail, created by Joico Glam Hair Expert Katie Bilovol, offers a new twist for a tame, yet fun hairstyle to wear at any holiday party. On days when you’re rushed to get out the door to get to work, a tame high pony is an easy, go-to look, but Katie added a red-carpet flair to this pony that is deceptively simple and even easier than any do-it-yourself braid maneuver! Make even more of an impression with the added touch of a ravishing ribbon running through it!

This holiday episode, along with several other, are available each week through mid-December on www.joico.com.

HOW-TO STEPS

    1

Wash hair with Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo and Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner to quench dry, winter hair. Blow-dry hair with a large, round brush to create volume. Next, create a triangle parting at the top of head and separate out.

Lift your client’s chin up and put her head back to help brush hair up into a very high ponytail – the higher the pony, the sleeker and trendier it will look. Spray Joico Power Spray on the hair as you keep brushing the ponytail up to tame the flyaways. Secure the ponytail with clear elastic.

Gently backcomb the top section to create texture. Gather this section and give the piece a twist, securing it into the ponytail with a bobby pin, continuing to wrap the end of this section around the clear elastic on the ponytail. Secure with a bobby pin.

Split the ponytail into two sections and twist into the same direction then cross both sections together until you reach the end. Secure the end of the hair with a hair tie.

*This is where you can add in the red ribbon, twisting the ribbon with the sections.

Starting at the top of the twist, gently tug some of the hair all the way down to make the twist look full. Squeeze a small dime-sized amount of Joico Super Shine Glossing Polish into the palm of your hand, rubbing your palms through the twist, polishing off the hairstyle.
