Creighton Bowman’s Modern Take on a Classic Chignon

When you hear the name Grace Kelly, what do you think of? How about immaculately coiffed, soft, sensual, classic and glamorous, to start? Here, celebrity stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists Management uses the iconic glamour of the screen siren as inspiration for this updo, but adds an up-to-the-minute twist; he gives the classic mid-century chignon a beachy, textured finish that firmly roots the ‘do in modern times.

Next, create three sections. Lift and pin the top two sections of hair at the top of the head and pull the lower section back into a ponytail. The ponytail is secured above the nape of the neck with an elastic band. Spritz with René Furterer Vegetal Finishing Spray.

Un-pin the top sections and lightly back-comb the hair one section at a time, starting with the section at the back of the head. Begin to wind the hair around the ponytail.
