Abstract yet Wearable “OpART” Color, Cut and Style from Logics
Starting in the fringe area, create a triangle that extends from the corner of each eye to the top of the head. From each end point, part the hair across the parietal ridge and around the head. Next, take a parting from the top of each ear; clip for control. In the back, part hair below the occipital from ear to ear and take a center parting in this section; clip for control.
Step 1: Blow-dry and flat iron entire head. In the crown, section a 2-inch triangle with the point facing the front of head. Establish desired guideline length, cutting on an angle from short to long. This section will be the guide for entire cut.
Step 2: Beginning in center back, take 1" wide sections vertically extending into the nape repeating the cutting pattern in step 1. Use internal carving and work to one ear and repeat on opposite side.
Step 3: Section crown off along the parietal bone, work to the front hairline using cutting pattern from step 2. Repeat on opposite side.
Step 4: In the crown, use the guide created in step 1 and take pie shaped sections to the front hairline utilizing internal carving and a traveling guide. Repeat this cutting pattern through the entire crown region.
Step 5: Cut fringe.
Step 6: Shape around face to bone structure. Personalize and refine.

Begin by dividing crown region into quadrants. Next, create 1 large triangle and 1 small triangle within each quadrant. Alternate large and small triangles as you work around the quadrants.
Step 1:
Pre-lightening: In fine slices using Formula 1, place back-to-back foils to all triangle sections. Begin lightener application in each foil below parietal ridge holding the color brush diagonally to create a diffused line. Completely saturate mid-lengths and ends for even decolorization. Process to level 9 (Yellow). Rinse, shampoo, blow-dry thoroughly and re-section.
Re-SECTION: Begin by dividing crown region into quadrants. Next, create 1 large triangle and 1 small triangle within each quadrant. Alternate large and small triangles as you work around the quadrants.
Step 2: Apply Formula 2 to all hair outside of crown region. In large triangle sections, using fine slices, place foil vertically and apply Formula 2 from scalp to diffused line. Within same foil, use either Formulas 3 or 4 from diffused line through mid-lengths to ends. Randomly alternate Formulas 3 and 4 throughout large triangular sub-sections. Working in small triangular sections, divide in half horizontally and place on long foils. Apply Formula 2 from scalp to diffused line. Next, using Formula 3 from diffused line, create a 1 1/2" long horizontal block. Continue in same manner using Formulas 2 and 3.
Note: Base and ends must always be Formula 2. Drop top half of triangle directly on previously colored hair reapply Formulas 2 and 3 using same pattern. Place second foil on top, do not fold or disturb. Rinse, shampoo, condition and style.
