“I was able to see the gorgeous Loewe gown Aubrey chose to wear a few days ahead, and my head exploded with inspiration,” says White Lotus star and Emmy nominee Aubrey Plaza‘s celeb hairstylist Mark Townsend (@marktownsend1)

“We decided that a half-up hairstyle would best suit the silhouette of the dress. I was so inspired by the way Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot wore their hair up, so Aubrey and I looked through pictures of them to inspire us,” Mark continues.

We love a look into the prep room! Check out Mark’s full process using OLAPLEX below:

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Aubrey’s hair prep started by cleansing with OLAPLEX No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. Mark then applied a few drops of No.7 Bonding Oil in her wet hair and combed through.

2

Next, Mark used Volumizing Blow Dry Mist and blow-dried with a mixed bristle round brush to get as much movement and body in the hair as possible. “I made sure to spray her roots at the crown to get lots of lift and volume,” Mark adds.

3

Using a 1-inch curling iron, loose waves were created around the head to add movement to the hair. “To give Aubrey long-lasting volume at the crown, I liberally sprayed 4D Clean Volume Dry Shampoo on her roots and lightly back combed the hair for lift,” Mark says.

4

To keep her freshly-cut fringe looking full, Mark brushed 4D Clean Volume Dry Shampoo through the face frame. “I like to use dry shampoo on bangs instead of hairspray because hairspray can leave the fringe looking wet and heavy whereas dry shampoo keeps them full,” Mark explains.
