Transformation: Grown Out Blonde To Spiced Brunette

And we’ll let you in on a little secret: No filler formula was required to transform her client’s grown out blonde into a luscious spiced brunette. Who is this technique for?
Melissa says this technique is great for any client who wants an easier grow out. As for choosing an extension method, both her and the client decided Bellami Hair Volume Wefts Hair Extensions were the best option. Why? “Volume wefts are great for clients who are wanting a dramatic change in length of hair,” shares Melissa. “They’re also great for thicker density hair. They will receive more coverage with less rows of extensions.”
How long does this technique take and how long does it last?
From color to extensions, the whole process took about eight hours and the color should last three to four weeks since Melissa didn’t use permanent color. “This allows my clients to have the option when it’s time for a touch-up to be able to switch back and forth from dark to light without damaging their hair,” notes Melissa.
What is the maintenance for this technique?
Because at-home maintenance is crucial to color longevity, Melissa says she educates her clients on using salon-grade products so they don’t have to see her as often. However, the client will have to come back every six to eight weeks in order to get her extensions moved up.
What is the pricing for this technique?
Pricing for a transformation like this starts at $1,000. “Color and extensions combined are a pretty good investment,” explains Melissa. “Overall they will look like a completely different person and using Bellami Hair, you can get a good six to 12 months use out of the extensions. I like to say it’s high-maintenance just to be low-maintenance.”

1. Start by touching up the money pieces with Formula A to add a little extra brightness around the face.
2. Paint lowlights with Formula B, feathering it down about midway on each section. Then, apply conditioner on the ends to prevent harsh lines. “I had a great starting point. My client’s hair was not porous and had enough gold in it that I didn’t need a filler,” notes Melissa.
3. Next, apply a root melt with Formula C to remove the line of demarcation from her regrowth. Let process.
4. Rinse, then tone with Formula D and process for 30 minutes. “Every minute that Shades EQ is left on is an extra wash a client gets out of their color,” says Melissa.
5. Rinse again, then blow dry and style as desired.
