When someone comes into your salon with angelic wisps of virgin hair, you have two options. The first option: free reign to create the wildest, most drastic color concoction you can. The second: protect the integrity of the already perfect hair and add subtle touches to make your own signature style. When this client walked into Hair and Harlow in Wollongong, Australia, colorist Mikayla Zustovich was happy to choose the latter option. She used gentle demi-permanent shades to maximize shine and achieve the ultimate blended look. And, of course, she used Olaplex to protect the hair as much as possible. What she got was this seamless yet subtle transition from dark to light.

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A to her roots. Using a wide-tooth comb, balayage the formula down throughout the hair to blend in and create a faded look.

 

2. As Formula A is setting, apply Formula B to the ends. Process for 25 minutes.

 

3. Tone with Lakme Gloss 9.22 on the midlengths and Lakme Gloss 10.22 on the ends. There is no specific processing time—just carefully observe until the desired results are reached.

 

4. Finally, tone the entirety of the hair with 15 mL Olaplex No. 2 Hair Perfector.

 

5. Shampoo, condition and dry.
