The shadow root trend is alive and well, and we’re loving how seamlessly this deep, rooty blonde transitions into a perfect, platinum silver. The artist behind this beautiful blonde ombré? That would be Anja Milotic (@anja.milo), owner of Milo Salon in Vancouver B.C., Canada. Anja’s been getting a lot of requests to share the formula for the high contrast color melt, and finally we have her how-to! See how she did it below.

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Natural/Starting Level:

    7 new growth and Level 9 from midshafts to ends

  • Formula A:

    Goldwell Colorance Demi Color 1 part 6A + 1 part 5A + Goldwell Colorance Lotion

FORMULA STEPS

1. Apply Formula A on the base and smudge down for a blended look.

2. Hand paint Formula B using a balayage technique, bringing it up into Formula A, overlapping in some areas. Process to a Level 9-10.

3. Rinse, shampoo and blow-dry.

4. Apply Formula C all over hair and process for 10 to 15 minutes.

5. Rinse, treat with Olaplex No.2 for 15 minutes and condition.
