BTC Community member Cassandra DeRosa of Salon202 in Howell, NJ is a master of transformation. Just take a peek at the before and after of her latest color creation! From brassy and grown-out to a beautiful platinum lilac, Cassandra put the punk back in pastel!

 

Cassandra’s Pro Tips:
1. Have clients come back for touch-ups every 6 to 8 weeks.

2. Advise clients to only wash hair once a week, if possible, to preserve the pastel shades as long as possible.

3. Use the right products! Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo for blondes and Super Strong Shampoo and Conditioner by Paul Mitchell are great for color maintenance. The Joico line, Copolla Keratin, Brazilian Blowout and It’s a 10 lines are also sure bets!

4. Educate your clients! Show them which products work best for them and how to use them—this can make all the difference. Hair is our best accessory!

FORMULA STEPS

Step 1: Root touch-up: Taking small sections, use V-Light Bleach + 40-volume and process under the dryer for 30 minutes. Be extra careful not to overlap the bleach to avoid any breakage.

Step 2: Tone with Paul Mitchell UTP + 5-volume and process for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Use Pravana Vivids Pastel Lavender and take small sections on damp hair, applying as you would a normal color touch-up and let it process for about 20 minutes.

Step 4: Shampoo with Clairol Shimmer Lights to tone and cleanse.

Step 5: Trim layers and bring up the back to create an asymmetrical feel.

Step 6: Use Copolla Keratin Complex to relax curls and replenish moisture and shine.
