Jessica Rabbit, Eat Your Heart Out!
Haircolor inspiration can be found anywhere—from nature to architecture to ’80s cartoon movies. Who remembers Jessica Rabbit—that cartoon bombshell suspected in the disappearance of her rabbit lover, Roger? Of course you remember her—maybe not for the plot, but definitely for those attention-grabbing, fire engine red locks. Nora Dababneh, a traveling colorist based in Chicago, used Jessica as her inspiration when this client walked in seeking a new eye-catching color. Her client loves bright, fashion colors and previously had green locks. However, when she came in with the desire to go red, her green had become discolored and faded, with her natural regrowth showing. Following the lead of her idols—Guy Tang and Beth Minardi—Nora researched the best products to get her client the best results and ended up with this beautiful balayage red. Jessica Rabbit would be proud—and jealous!

FORMULA STEPS
1. Section the hair into four equal partings.
2. Apply Formula B to just the midlengths and ends to achieve a Level 9 and remove the previous color’s pigment. In order to lift this area to a Level 9, you must apply to midlengths and ends first—since you don’t want the outgrowth to lift to anything lighter than a 7/8.
3. When you see the ends lift to a yellow blond shade, apply Formula A to lift the outgrowth to the desired shade.
4. Observe while processing to make sure you reach the desired level of lift.
5. Rinse, condition and blow-dry the hair.
6. Time for balayage! Paint Formula C onto the outgrowth and balayage down to the ends with Formula D.
7. Process, rinse and blow-dry the hair.
