Who is the ideal client for this look?
Cassie applies her signature Italian balayage technique for this look specifically because it is designed for all canvases. “I don’t just mean starting level,” she explains. “I mean all different textures, densities, shapes and porosity levels. It’s ideal for a stylist who needs a go-to placement that can be intricately customized for their client at every step,” she adds.
How long does it take and how is it priced?
Depending on your application speed, this service can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. For this model, Cassie used a wash-and-go styling technique which adds an additional 45 minutes to the appointment.
“The pricing can totally fit into any stylist’s current service menu,” Cassie explains. “I recommend structuring the service options as a face frame, partial balayage, full balayage and toner refresh.” Here’s a quick cheat sheet to price these services:
- Face Frame: Priced slightly below your partial highlight service.
- Partial & full balayage: Cassie suggests pricing these services slightly higher than a highlight (full and partial service) to compensate for the level of customization.
- Toner: Can be a standard toner and style service price.
For clients requesting the full service with everything included, Cassie suggests adding these prices up and offer it as the Italian Balayage Full Look.
What is the at-home maintenance for this look?
“Even with healthy lightening, it’s always beneficial to have products that will support the strength of the hair while it adjusts to lifting changes,” explains Cassie. That’s why she sends her clients home with the Alfaparf Milano Semi Di Lino Reconstruction System, here’s a list of her must-have at-home products:
- Reconstruction Reparative Shampoo
- Reconstruction Reparative Mask
- Reparative Anti Breakage Fluid
- Reparative SOS Emergency Oil
Pro Tip: For maximum color longevity, Cassie creates a custom toner using Alfaparf Milano Pigments Additive, for clients to add to their hair mask.
What is the retouch schedule for this look?
What’s great about this technique is it gives the client options about how much they want to come into the salon. Cassie recommends brightening up the face frame every four months, but the client can wait longer if they choose. Since the tones are warm, the client can come in for a gloss service whenever they feel like they need a refresh.
