Noelle Nicolaou of American Hairlines Salon and Spa in Bethlehem, PA loves the natural and multidimensional results she is able to achieve using babylights—the newest balayage technique that involves applying color in super tiny sections. So for her latest color transformation, she used foils and these ultra-fine highlights to blend sweet kisses of caramel and blonde into her client’s darker base. The result? A soft, seamless, sun-kissed color melt that’s seriously irresistible.

COLOR FORMULAS

  • Natural Level:

  • Formula A:

Wella Professionals BLONDOR + 20-volume developer

  • Formula B:

Wella Professionals BLONDOR + 30-volume developer

FORMULA STEPS

1. Beginning an inch from the root, use foils to slice Formula A in baby fine sections, beginning horizontally down a Mohawk section and continuing along the sides and back of the head.

2. Process for 30 minutes.

3. Tease the hair at the root, and slice Formula B into the remaining hair to lighten the ends, making sure to stay away from the root. The teasing technique helps avoid harsh lines for a seamless look.

4. Shampoo twice with Aveda Color Enhance Blue Malva Shampoo and condition the ends with a mixture of Blue Malva and Aveda Damage Remedy™ Restructuring Conditioner. Leave on for about five minutes, then rinse.
